How do you repair/fill a crack in a rolling pin? - my rolling pin blogspot
I turn the old hardwood French, the grid is. I intend to use the PIN, so they need a solution that is agreeable to eat.

I enjoy it in a food-grade oil, perhaps in an oven at low temperature. Sounds like it is dry. Soak the wood to swell should be sufficient to minimize the cracks, then a good wax wax after the oil has dried.
I have it with a deadly / mortar joint, and it has worked very well. But if it is used only for cooking, I'm not sure that this is the right way.
